FSF is named after Rev. Fergus Simpson, a minister who served the community of Chapelton, Clarendon for over 50 years. His influence extended to the wider expanse of Jamaica, the land he deeply loved. On October 16, 2000, the far-reaching impact of his life was poignantly felt as over 3000 persons gathered to pay tribute to this man who "lived in a house by the side of the road and was a friend to man." During the period 1989 - 1992, Fergus was joined by his youngest daughter, Janeth. Working alongside him, she brought together a group of young people, Symphony of Praise, and provided them with an avenue to express their talents and abilities. In 2003 the family of Fergus Simpson combined the rich legacy of his life with the legacy of Symphony of Praise to form the Fergus Simpson Foundation (FSF), a nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation, operating in the United States and Jamaica.
