The Fergus Simpson Foundation (FSF) conducted its third annual Summer Enrichment Camp at Chapelton All-Age School under the theme, “Unleashing My S.E.L.F”. All camp classes and activities were geared toward Service, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Fine Arts. The camp catered to youth in the community between the ages of 5-18 years old. This year’s camp saw a number of sponsors including Digicel, Jamaica Broilers, ICWI, NCB, Food for the Poor, OGM among others.

Classes under the heading of entrepreneurship included jewellery making, cake decorating, needlework, card-making and Brain-Surge, an engineering design class. Campers also participated in music, dance and drama classes. As a part of its philosophy to give back, the Fergus Simpson Foundation presented the principal of the Chapelton All-Age School the keys to a new counseling building. This counseling building was constructed during the week of camp with the help of dedicated volunteers.

The Fergus Simpson Foundation also presented local churches with gift baskets and served lunches to the officers at the Chapelton Police Station. The camp ended with an awards ceremony at the Salem United Church in Chapelton. Three scholarships were awarded to campers totaling one thousand U.S. dollars. The Fergus Simpson Foundation continues to be committed to its motto of Treasuring the Past, Training the Future and Transforming the Community (TR3).
